Introduction

My name is Kalen Kasraie and my hometown is Ventura, CA. Currently I have not decided or declared a major, so I am taking general education courses for the first few quarters. I very broadly enjoy social sciences, including geography and history, as well as music and dance. In this class, I am looking forward to exploring maps more, and learning about why and how they can have meanings and messages, as well as how they can relate to American culture. I was very interested in the Mercator map and its perceived bias toward Europe and the US and Canada. Also, the work that we read about ten different ways to view a landscape broadened my approach to this topic. In general, I am enjoying living in Davis, being independent, sleeping, and taking Hip Hop Dance.  There is nothing specific that I am eager for people to know about me. Thank you
